Who Is the Aputure 36° Lens for Spotlight Max For?
The Aputure 36° Lens for Spotlight Max is a replacement or additional projection lens for filmmakers and gaffers who already own the Spotlight Max housing and want to expand their lens library without purchasing a second complete kit.
Spotlight Max owners expanding their lens kit to cover multiple beam angles
The Spotlight Max housing accepts interchangeable 19°, 36°, and 50° lenses. Purchasing the 36° lens alone lets you add the most versatile standard production angle to your existing kit without duplicating the housing, yoke, gobo holder, and case. One Spotlight Max housing, three lens options — a significant cost saving over buying full kits for each angle.
Production houses and rental companies building per-angle lens inventory
Rental operations running multiple Spotlight Max units benefit from per-lens stock over complete kits. This lens-only option lets you configure each Spotlight Max housing with the appropriate angle for each lighting position, swapping lenses between setups as production needs change.
Best Use Cases for the Aputure 36° Lens for Spotlight Max
The 36° lens is the most widely used Spotlight Max lens — versatile enough for most mid-range throw applications while tight enough for dramatic spotlight effects.
General production spotlight work at standard throw distances of 3–7 metres
At 3 m with an LS 600d Pro, the 36° lens delivers 8,200 lux / 762 fc. At 5 m, 2,952 lux / 274 fc. At 7 m, 1,506 lux / 140 fc. This output profile covers most standard stage, studio, and event throw distances comfortably.
Gobo projection and pattern work requiring a medium-angle beam
The 36° angle provides enough projection spread to display A-sized gobos clearly at standard distances without the narrow, high-contrast look of the 19° lens. It is the recommended starting lens for breakup pattern work, logo projection, and leaf/window texture overlays.
Is the Aputure 36° Lens for Spotlight Max Good for High-Output Fixtures Like the LS 1200d Pro?
Yes. The 36° Lens is rated for all Spotlight Max compatible fixtures from the LS 600 series through the LS 1200d Pro and Electro Storm XT26. With the LS 1200d Pro, output at 3 m reaches 4,233 lux / 393 fc at 5,600K. With the STORM 1200x at 1 m, the lens delivers up to 182,900 lux / 16,992 fc in high-speed mode. The precision optics maintain colour accuracy and even distribution at all power levels.
Aputure 36° Lens for Spotlight Max Compatibility and Setup
Attaches to the Spotlight Max housing — lens-only purchase
This is a lens-only product. The Spotlight Max housing (sold separately or included in the Spotlight Max Kit) is required. The 36° lens attaches to the Spotlight Max housing with the same precision mount used by the 19° and 50° lenses — swapping takes seconds on set.
Compatible fixtures via Bowens Mount on the Spotlight Max housing
Compatible with all Spotlight Max-supported Bowens Mount fixtures: LS 300d II, LS 600 Series, STORM 400x, STORM 700x, LS 1200d Pro, STORM 1000c, STORM 1200x, Electro Storm CS15, Electro Storm XT26, and more (see Aputure compatibility wizard for full list).

Aputure 36° Lens vs 19° and 50° Lenses for Spotlight Max — Which Angle?
Choose the 36° Lens if…
You need a general-purpose spotlight angle suited to most production distances and scenarios. The 36° is the standard first lens for most Spotlight Max users — wide enough to cover full-body shots from a comfortable throw, tight enough for theatrical spotlight looks and readable gobo projection.
Choose the 19° Lens if…
Maximum intensity in the tightest possible beam is the priority — long-throw applications, extremely dramatic narrow pool effects, and the sharpest possible gobo projection. Output per angular area is significantly higher than the 36° but with a narrower coverage area.
Is the Aputure 36° Lens for Spotlight Max Worth It?
If you own the Spotlight Max housing and are using it with only one lens angle, adding the 36° (or another angle) doubles your creative range without duplicating your investment in the housing, yoke, and case. For production companies building a lens library, the per-lens pricing makes this a straightforward expansion investment with immediate practical value on any shoot requiring varied spotlight distances or angles.
