Product Overview

The amaran Halo 300x is a 300W-class bi-color COB monolight and the studio anchor of the Halo series. Set the name aside: this is not a ring light. It is a point-source Bowens mount fixture, the same form factor as an Aputure 300-series COB, built to drive real modifiers.

With 16,200 lux at 1 m bare, it keys interviews, talking-head sets and podcast studios through a 90 cm softbox with room to spare. It runs off one 5 m AC cable with no external power brick, and the whole head stays compact enough to live on a small stand. Reviewers describe it as the successor to Aputure's original 300x line, and that is exactly the slot it fills in the range.

Key Features

  • 305W max draw bi-color COB with up to 16,200 lux at 1 m bare and 29,954 lumens of total output.
  • Color temperature runs from 2,700K to 6,500K with separate brightness and CCT knobs.
  • Accurate white light: CRI 96+ and TLCI 97+. amaran rates SSI at 84 tungsten and 74 daylight. Two independent spectrometer reviews measured the same values on production units.
  • Bowens mount and an 85 degree bare beam that fills big softboxes and lanterns evenly.
  • All-in-one monolight design: one 5 m AC cable, no external adapter.
  • Control on the fixture, in the amaran app over Bluetooth (up to 80 m), or on DMX consoles via the optional USB-C to 5-pin adapter.
  • Max fan noise is 28 dBA, with a silent mode (output capped at 42W) for critical audio takes.

Which Halo Size?

The full lineup lives in our amaran Halo collection.

Halo or Something Else?

Three honest alternatives. If you need RGB color, battery power or splash resistance for location work, the amaran Ray 360c covers this output class with amaran's full-color engine. If color fidelity is the priority for high-end commercial work, the Aputure STORM 400x measures higher on SSI in the same independent tests and adds a tougher production build. And if you are cross-shopping bi-color COBs at this wattage, we also stock the Nanlite FS-300B. Happy to compare all three against your actual jobs.

In the Box

  • 1x amaran Halo 300x
  • 1x amaran IEC C13 AC Power Cable (5 m)

Only the power cable is included. No Halo ships with a softbox or reflector, so plan a Bowens modifier from the start. The amaran Light Dome 90 is the natural interview pairing here. The fixture is rated IP20, so keep it to indoor and covered work.

FAQ

Is Amaran Halo 300x Bi-Color LED Light better than Amaran Ray?

Choose Halo when you need bi-color white light and a clean key or fill workflow. Choose Ray when RGB color, creative effects, or a COB-style color fixture is the reason for buying.

Which Halo size should I choose?

Match the size to subject distance, room size, modifier size, stand capacity, and travel needs. Larger Halo models make more sense when output and coverage matter more than packing small.

Can Amaran Halo 300x Bi-Color LED Light work for interviews?

Yes. It is a sensible interview direction when you need bi-color CCT control, softbox or bounce use, and repeatable white-light setups without moving into a bigger system.

What accessories should I check first?

Check the softbox or reflector path, grid needs, stand and sandbag support, case expectations, battery or AC power plan, and whether the light needs app or DMX-style control.

Where can I buy Amaran Halo 300x Bi-Color LED Light in Canada?

Filmgear Canada sells Amaran Halo 300x Bi-Color LED Light for Canadian creators, studios, schools, and production buyers, with Canada-wide shipping and Vancouver-area support.
