The amaran Halo 600x is a 545W-output bi-colour Bowens COB available from Filmgear Canada for Canadian crews lighting a wider set, large softbox or bounce. Its 32,500-lux bare rating at 1 m provides substantial white-light headroom from a fixture powered by one AC cable.

Key Selling Points

- Headroom for a larger source: 32,500 lux at 1 m bare can feed a larger softbox or bounce path; the actual light on talent depends on distance and modifier loss.
- AC set workflow: the integrated power supply takes the included 5 m IEC C13 cable. This is a mains-powered fixture, so confirm a safe outlet and cable route.
- Consistent white-light control: adjust from 2,700–6,500K and shape the 85° bare beam with a compatible Bowens softbox, lantern or Fresnel.
- Fit into a crew setup: use onboard knobs, the amaran app with NFC pairing, or optional USB-C DMX for a wired lighting desk.
- Budget support separately: the box contains no stand or modifier. Choose support for the complete fixture and accessory load, and keep this IP20 light dry.
In the Box
- 1x amaran Halo 600x
- 1x amaran IEC C13 AC Power Cable (5m)
FAQ
When does the Halo 600x make sense over the 300x?
The 600x is rated at 32,500 lux bare at 1 m, versus 16,200 lux for the Halo 300x. The extra output matters when light must travel farther or pass through heavier diffusion. For a close single-person key, compare the required aperture and modifier before buying more headroom.
Can I run the Halo 600x from a battery?
Its specified power input is AC and the supplied cable connects directly to the head. Unlike the smaller Halo 60x/100x, this fixture has no USB-C PD power option. Plan mains power for the shoot.
What do I need to add before the first shoot?
The package has the light and a 5 m AC cable. Bring a suitable stand, grip safety and a Bowens reflector, softbox or other light-shaping tool suited to the scene. A bare source and a heavily diffused key produce very different results.
Is the 600x a full-colour alternative to the Ray 660c?
No. The Halo 600x is a 2,700–6,500K bi-colour white light. The Ray 660c adds OmniColor full-colour control and IP54 protection; choose it when saturated colour or a more weather-tolerant fixture is part of the job.
How can a crew control the Halo 600x from the ground?
Use the amaran app for a paired wireless workflow or add the optional USB-C to 5-pin DMX adapter for a wired console. The head remains adjustable locally, so choose the control path that fits the stand height and crew setup.
Does the Halo 600x have an outdoor weather rating?
It is rated IP20, which calls for dry or fully covered operation. Its 610W maximum power consumption also means planning a suitable AC circuit and protected distribution for a location rig.
