Warranty & Support Request — Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Film Gear Canada ("we", "us") handles the personal information you provide when you submit a warranty or support request through our website. It covers the warranty form specifically and sits alongside our general store privacy policy.
What we collect
When you submit the form, we collect only what's needed to handle your claim:
- Your name, email address, and (if provided) phone number
- Order details — order number and purchase date
- Product details — product name, model/SKU, and serial number
- A description of the issue
- Any files you upload (e.g. proof of purchase, photos of the product)
If you use "Find my order", we verify your order number and email against our store records to confirm the purchase and pre-fill product details. We don't store payment-card information.
Why we collect it, and who we share it with
We use this information solely to process your warranty/support claim. To do that, we forward the relevant details to the manufacturer of your product, or its authorized Canadian distributor or service partner (for example, a manufacturer's repair centre), so they can assess and resolve your claim. We share only what's necessary for that purpose.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for marketing through this form.
How long we keep it
We keep claim records for 24 months after the claim is resolved, then delete them (including uploaded files) automatically. We may keep a record longer where required for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution reasons.
How we protect it
Information is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and stored on access-controlled systems. Internal access is limited to staff handling warranty claims.
Please note: links to your uploaded files are included in the email we send the manufacturer so they can review your proof of purchase. Those links are unguessable but are not individually password-protected — consider this when deciding what to upload, and see "How long we keep it" above.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information you submitted, or ask a question about this notice, by contacting info@filmgearcanada.com. Submitting the form is voluntary, but we can't process a warranty claim without the details above.
