The Atomos Ninja TX GO is a 5.2-inch field monitor, external camera monitor and HDMI recorder with a 1500-nit touchscreen, built-in Wi-Fi 6E and recording to certified CFexpress Type B or USB media. Buy it in Canada from Filmgear Canada, Vancouver's video monitoring and wireless video gear specialist.

Product Overview
Ninja TX GO combines exposure and focus monitoring with external recording and connected delivery in an HDMI-only model. Its 1920 × 1080 display gives you a Full HD view, while the recording engine supports ProRes RAW up to 6K30 from compatible camera outputs, video up to UHD/DCI 4K60 and Full HD up to 120p. The camera must supply a supported signal: the recorder does not turn a lower-resolution output into RAW or 6K. If you are shopping for a 4K field monitor, distinguish accepted signal resolution from screen resolution before choosing. TX GO retains cloud delivery and certified removable-media recording without adding the Ninja TX's SDI interface or AirGlu wireless timecode. For an HDMI camera operator, that makes the purchase decision about recording formats, media, power and delivery rather than paying for connections the camera does not use.
Key Features
1500-nit touchscreen and exposure tools
The 5.2-inch IPS touchscreen offers 1920 × 1080 resolution and Rec.709 calibration. Waveform, RGB parade, vectorscope, EL Zone and ARRI false colour, zebras and focus peaking help you judge exposure and focus beyond the camera's small rear screen. Set brightness for viewing, then use exposure tools to assess the signal rather than treating a bright picture as proof of correct exposure. Frame guides, LUT preview and anamorphic de-squeeze help you view the intended composition.
HDMI 2.0 input and output
Connect a supported camera to the HDMI input and use the output when a downstream display is needed. TX GO has no built-in SDI connection. Check the camera's clean HDMI output, recording mode and supported resolution/frame-rate combination before assembling the rig. A camera with an HDMI socket is not automatically a supported ProRes RAW camera, and an adapter cannot add the Ninja TX's SDI or AirGlu functions to TX GO.
ProRes RAW up to 6K30
Record ProRes RAW or ProRes RAW HQ when your camera delivers a compatible RAW signal. ProRes LT, 422 and HQ, Avid DNxHD/DNxHR and H.265 provide additional format choices. Agree the codec and resolution with post-production before filming; storage demands and editing support differ. The RAW ceiling is 6K30, not the Ninja TX's higher RAW ceiling. Supported conventional video formats extend to 4K60 and 1080p120.
CFexpress Type B or certified USB storage
Recording media is purchased separately. Select an Atomos-certified CFexpress Type B card or certified USB storage device for the intended mode, and test a complete recording and offload before a paid shoot. Allow for codec, frame rate and shooting ratio when sizing storage. USB recording is an alternative media path, not a reason to assume that every USB drive sustains the required write rate.
Wi-Fi 6E camera-to-cloud and NDI 6/HX3
Built-in Wi-Fi connects the recorder with ATOMOSphere, Frame.io or Dropbox for camera-to-cloud delivery. Included NDI 6/HX3 transmit and receive support provides another connected production path, while over-the-air firmware updates keep the device software current. Accounts, platform terms, network access and bandwidth still matter. Test the venue connection before relying on remote delivery, and keep the local recording/offload routine in place.
USB-C control for supported cameras
Camera control and touch-to-focus depend on the supported camera model, firmware and connection. Check the current Atomos compatibility information for the exact camera rather than assuming support across a brand. Z CAM E2 LANC control uses a separately purchased cable. TX GO accepts embedded HDMI timecode, but it does not include AirGlu, Bluetooth timecode or an LTC input. Choose a synchronization plan suited to the actual camera and recorder.
NP-F or USB-C PD power and secure mounting
Power TX GO with an NP-F battery or a suitable USB-C PD source. The technical specification calls for a 65W-capable PD supply and lists operating consumption up to 30W; supply capability and operating draw are different numbers. The 400 g body measures 151 × 92 × 36 mm before your battery, media and mount are added. Top and bottom anti-rotation mounting points support 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch mounting arrangements. Use the supplied locking adapters for cable security.
Front tally for recording status
A red tally indicates recording and a green tally indicates standby. Use the indicator alongside the screen status during a take, especially when the display faces the operator but other crew need to see whether the recorder is running. It helps communicate recorder state; confirm the local recording at the end of a critical take.
How It Compares
Choose Ninja TX GO for an HDMI camera when you need external recording, Wi-Fi delivery and the 1500-nit display. Choose Ninja TX if the project also requires built-in 12G-SDI input/output, AirGlu wireless synchronization or its higher supported RAW recording ceiling. Both models weigh 400 g before accessories, so TX GO is not a lighter-body alternative. Choose Shinobi GO when you only need monitoring and will record inside the camera; it does not replace TX GO's recording or cloud-delivery functions.
Compatible Accessories and Related Gear
- Atomos Ninja TX: Compare the same-family recorder when SDI, AirGlu or higher supported RAW modes matter.
- Atomos Shinobi GO: Compare a monitor-only model when the camera handles recording.
Who Is This For?
For documentary operators, hybrid video crews and owner-operators working with compatible HDMI cameras who want monitoring and recording in one unit. It also suits a production sharing clips with remote editors, provided the network and cloud workflow are tested. Confirm camera output support first, then budget for certified media, power, an HDMI lead and a suitable mount.
Who Should Choose Something Else?
Choose a recorder with SDI when your production camera or downstream workflow requires that interface. Choose Ninja TX when AirGlu timecode is part of the plan. Choose a monitor-only display for exposure and framing if external recording is unnecessary. If the desired RAW mode is absent from the camera/recorder compatibility list, choose a supported recording combination rather than assuming a connector match is enough.

FAQ
Does Ninja TX GO include SDI input or output?
No. TX GO is an HDMI-only monitor-recorder with HDMI 2.0 input and output. Choose the Ninja TX model when the rig needs built-in 12G-SDI connections rather than an HDMI camera workflow.
Is its 5.2-inch screen a 4K display?
No. The touchscreen panel is 1920 × 1080. It accepts supported higher-resolution camera signals for viewing and recording, but input resolution and the physical display resolution are different specifications.
Can any HDMI camera record 6K30 ProRes RAW with TX GO?
No. The camera must deliver a supported RAW output in a compatible mode. Confirm the exact camera, firmware and signal format in the current Atomos compatibility information before buying for 6K30 RAW recording.
What media do I need before recording?
Choose Atomos-certified CFexpress Type B or certified USB storage suited to your recording format. Media is separate from the box contents. Test a sustained recording and offload using the chosen codec before the shoot.
Does TX GO have AirGlu wireless timecode?
No. TX GO accepts embedded HDMI timecode but has no AirGlu, Bluetooth timecode or LTC input. Ninja TX is the same-family option to examine when wireless synchronization is required.
What USB-C PD supply should I use?
The TX GO technical specification calls for a 65W-capable PD supply, while operating consumption is listed up to 30W. Use an appropriate power adapter and cable, or an NP-F battery, and test the complete power setup.
Can I control my camera from the TX GO touchscreen?
Only supported cameras and connections provide the available control functions, including touch-to-focus. Check the exact model and firmware. Z CAM E2 LANC control requires a separately purchased cable.
Should I buy TX GO or Shinobi GO for camera monitoring?
Choose TX GO when you need compatible external recording and connected delivery as well as exposure tools. Choose Shinobi GO when the camera records internally and a monitor-only Full HD screen with UHD 4K30 input meets your needs.
