FAQ

Does this single unit make a complete wireless video link?

A wireless video transmitter and receiver are both needed. This package contains one transceiver, which can operate as either the transmitter or the receiver at a time. Add another DJI SDR Transmission 2 unit to create a one-camera link, or use this unit to expand an existing second-generation system.

Can I use SDI and still transmit 4K video?

The main unit supports DCI 4K/60fps through HDMI or the bottom USB-C DisplayPort connection. SDI requires the separately sold DJI SDR Transmission 2 Expansion Plate, whose SDI and HDMI ports support up to 1080p/60fps. A 4K input on the main unit can be downscaled to 1080p for SDI output through the plate.

Will DJI SDR Transmission 2 connect to the original DJI SDR Transmission?

DJI SDR Transmission 2 cannot link with the first-generation DJI SDR Transmission or DJI Transmission. Use second-generation transceivers together. The original SDR system remains a separate option for 1080p monitoring with built-in SDI connections.

How do I monitor the feed on a phone or tablet?

Connect a compatible phone or tablet to a transceiver operating as the receiver using a USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to Lightning cable, then use the DJI Ronin app. The DJI Ronin app includes pre-installed LUTs and supports importing custom LUTs. Check the current DJI device compatibility list; the required phone connection cable is sold separately.

Can several camera feeds operate in the same area?

DJI recommends up to five cameras operating in the same area; the actual number may vary. Each transmitter can connect to up to eight receivers. Auto Channel 2.0 helps maintain a stable feed. Channels can also be selected manually on the transceiver or in the DJI Ronin app; obstructions and interference can still affect the feed.

Which battery or USB-C power supply do I need?

Use the included NP-F Battery Adapter with a compatible 6.8-8.4 V NP-F battery, or supply USB-C PD power at 15 V/3 A with a power adapter rated at 65 W or above. Batteries and a power adapter are sold separately. The supplied USB-C cable is identified as a firmware update cable, so select the appropriate power and video cables for your setup.

How It Compares

Feature DJI SDR Transmission 2 DJI SDR Transmission (original)
Unit roles Each transceiver switches between TX and RX Separate transmitter and receiver units
Maximum video format DCI 4K/60fps and 10-bit HDR on main-unit HDMI/DP 1080p/60fps
Maximum SDR encoding bitrate 50 Mbps under controlled conditions 20 Mbps in Control mode with Broadcast mode off
SDI connection Separate Expansion Plate; up to 1080p/60fps Built-in SDI input on TX and output on RX

Choose the second generation for 4K monitoring and flexible TX/RX allocation. The original DJI SDR Transmission Combo provides a separate 1080p system with built-in SDI. The two generations cannot link to each other.
