The PortKeys BM5 IV WR is a 5.5" 4K60P HDMI touchscreen on-camera monitor running the Cinenorm operating system. The WR designation indicates the built-in wireless camera control feature, which lets the monitor trigger record start/stop and tweak settings on compatible cameras over a wireless connection, so you can rig the camera and walk away while still controlling it from the monitor.

Cinenorm is PortKeys' newer monitor OS, focused on a cleaner touchscreen workflow than older PortKeys firmware.

FAQ

Is the PortKeys BM5 IV WR 5.5" 4K60P HDMI Touchscreen Monitor good for camera work?

Yes, when its screen size, inputs, brightness, power option, and camera-control support match the camera build. Its strongest fit is on-camera monitoring for exposure, focus, framing, LUT preview, and compact production setups.

Does this Portkeys monitor send video wirelessly?

No. Portkeys camera-control features are different from wireless video transmission. The camera still needs an HDMI or SDI video connection to the monitor, and a separate wireless video system is needed for cable-free monitoring.

What should I compare before choosing this Portkeys model?

Compare screen size, brightness, HDMI or SDI ports, LUT and waveform tools, power input, battery plate, weight, mounting points, and camera-control compatibility. A 5-inch-class monitor keeps the rig compact, while a 7-inch monitor gives a larger viewing surface.

Can Filmgear Canada help choose the right Portkeys monitor?

Filmgear Canada can help Canadian buyers compare Portkeys monitor options by camera body, video output, battery plan, rig size, and control-cable requirements. That is especially useful when choosing between HDMI-only and SDI/HDMI models.

Who should choose a different monitor?

Choose a different monitor if you need wireless video, a larger director display, another input standard, a brighter screen for harsh exterior work, or a model with a different camera-control path. Also check whether your camera model is supported before relying on monitor-side control.
