Product Overview
The Base Kit is the handling-focused middle ground in the range. Its full cage uses three camera contact points, can convert to a half cage by removing the lower screws and handle-side bracket, and maintains access to the FX5 controls, screen and original XLR handle. The reinforced chassis also includes the locking HDMI clamp, magnetic battery latch and the ARCA foundation shared by the other kits.
Both included Xeno handles attach through NATO rails, so their position can be adjusted or the handles can be removed as the build changes. Each handle adds accessory mounting points, including 1/4-inch-20 connections and a cold shoe, while the side handle’s textured grip supports steadier handheld operating.
This configuration omits rods and a power plate. You get a usable cage-and-handle package now while keeping the 15mm LWS baseplate, V-mount plate, lens control and matte box choices open for a later build.

Compared with the standalone Full Camera Cage, this kit adds both operating handles and their extra mounting points. It remains lighter and simpler than the Pro Kit because it does not include the adjustable 15mm LWS baseplate or rods.
Choose the Power Kit instead when extended V-mount power is the central need. That package replaces the Xeno handles with an adjustable ARCA receiver, Mini PD V-Mount Battery Plate and 100W right-angle USB-C cable.

Can I still use the Sony XLR top handle?
